Complete Character Description:

If one word had to be used to describe Damien, it would be 'terrifying'. He is enormous, standing at maybe two inches under seven feet, and strong and muscular to boot. Even in life, he was incredibly strong, and all the centuries of being a vampire have only increased that. Not only that, but he isn't afraid to use his strength to get whatever he wants, and that much is very clear from the way he carries himself.

He has brilliant green eyes, powerful and mysteriously compelling, long, dark brown hair, and features that are not beautiful, but do have a certain appeal to them. He isn't even quite handsome, but there is something about him that makes one look twice at him, though perhaps that is as much the force of his dominant personality as anything else. His strong arms are covered in tattoos, and he invariably wears a beard of some sort, often a goatee.

Typically speaking, he wears black, and he definitely has a thing for leather. However, when trying to fit in, he has often dressed as a biker, which is a look he pulls off very well indeed, due to his size and imposing demeanor. Even now, he finds that he sometimes wishes to go incognito, and when he does, it is still a good enough disguise to keep him beneath most people's radar.

Personality:

Again, the word 'terrifying' comes to mind. Damien is a very, very dominant personality, and wants to have control over any situation in which he interests himself. Luckily for him, he has no particular desire to rule Vegas, or else the Sanguine would have killed him long ago. He focuses his attention on his slaves, which is quite fortunate for him, as it makes him useful enough to the Sanguine that, while they do keep an eye on him, he is free to largely act as he likes.

Strong, confident, quick to anger and to punish, Damien is a hard master to serve. For those that are beneath him, he expects subservience, and in point of fact he considers most to be in that catagory. Again, he has quite the temper when he is crossed, and will seek retribution out of proportion to the original 'crime' against him. Any weakness that is shown to him will be exploited, if it benefits him in any way. Benefiting him, by the way, could be as simple as serving to amuse him.

Damien is not particularly demonstrative of emotions, other than anger. Oh, he will freely show dominance, possession, but softer emotions like compassion or love are not things he is interested in. He does feel, of course, but as he is so willing to manipulate the feelings of others, he is not particularly interested in having the same thing done to him, so he keeps it to himself.

Background:

There was a time of great uncertainty, of change, in the world, as the Roman Empire declined and nothing really rose to take its place. In the time between when the Roman Empire started to wane and the start of the Dark Ages, a boy child, Gwrtheyrn, was born to a Celtic warchief of the island of Briton. He was the heir to a small kingdom, though, of course, Roman presence made it questionable whether he would have anything to inherit when the time came.

His father's little kingdom was in a bit of a unique situation, as it was located far to the north of the land, where Roman influence, while it definitely existed, was much more diluted than it was further south. Hence he grew up with little foreign influence, and by the time his father was killed and the young man was ready to take control, along with his brother who was a couple of years younger than him, something else had happened that was very interesting, and changed the situation even more.

The Romans had stretched themselves too thin, and they no longer had the resources to fight against the Britons, who were constantly rebelling against Roman rule of their island. As the Empire became weaker, they no longer were able to keep the legions that they had in such a place, which was far enough from Rome that it wasn't particularly useful to them. By the time that the two brothers inherited their kingdom, most of the Roman troops had left.

Of course, this provided an excellent opportunity for an enterprising young warchief, who had grown up under the shadow of the constant threat of Roman expansion and wasn't particularly happy about that. Now was the perfect time to find some revenge, and he set himself to the task with energy.

While leading his men, including his brother, down to the south of the island, his life was to change forever. There was a Roman vampire, Lucia, who had been brought in to subdue the natives, and when he found out about this, he changed his mission right then and there upon learning of her. She was fairly young, and with the help of his subjects, he was able to capture the vampire without too much trouble, even keeping her bound as he learned what the source of her power was.

That was, in the end, how he became a vampire, he and his brother both. They allowed her to drain them both, one at a time, and then they stole from her the blood that would make them both into vampires, and then left their reluctant, unwilling sire in the sun to burn to death.

With their new powers, along with the decay of the Empire, it was fairly easy for them to encourage the Romans to leave, and as the years passed, all hints of Roman influence faded. Inevitably, of course, his people wanted him to share the vampiric blood with them, but he didn't want to give them that power, he enjoyed being the strongest, and so as the Iron Age drew to an end and the Middle Ages started, he left his only home to explore the world. Brittania simply wasn't big enough for him anymore, not with the new powers he had found in himself.

From there, he travelled, staying long enough to gain power, influence, and money in a place. France was his first stop, and there he took on the name 'Damien', which had a meaning he liked. In French the name meant 'to tame', and that, almost from the beginning, was exactly what he wanted to do.

The years passed, and Damien moved through Europe, Asia, the Middle East, everywhere he could. And as time passed, the world changed. Slavery, which was always a natural part of life to him, was abolished, and as a constant slaveholder himself, he didn't particularly approve. Nor did it stop him from kidnapping those who he found interesting. They were always human, always difficult to manage, because Damien found no pleasure in dominating someone who was too easy to break, or had already been broken.

So he had his slaves, and he was always powerful, influential, rich, wherever he went. And really, for Damien, very little changed. He did what he liked regardless of what the world thought, worked for those more powerful than him, and as the Middle Ages passed away into the Rennaisance and as he kept on travelling, he continued on much as though he were still a honored warlord.

Who knows how long this would have continued, had the world not started to fall apart? Damien weathered the modern ages as well as he had the previous ones, and if the climate hadn't started to change, if the meteor hadn't struck, he would have probably continued on that way forever, moving when he had to, when anyone started to figure out that he wasn't quite as he seemed. But things did change, and Damien proved, just as he had when he was a mortal, to be quite resourceful and to make the best of the situation.

Indeed, for the vampire, who was now very, very old, the meteor which was so universally hated was a return to the life that he had always considered to be the best. When he heard of Vegas, he lost very little time in going there, and soon he'd proven to the Sanguine that he could be quite useful. His experience as a warlord and king of sorts had given him the sort of management skills he needed to take care of the slave trade in their city, and he was strong enough and determined enough that he was an ideal choice for seeking those humans who hid from them out, and adding them to the population of slaves.

In the time he has been in Vegas, Damien has not taken any particular slave to himself, though he buys, sells, trades, and captures them freely. No one has struck his interest, most of the humans were too cowed to be worth his time, but he has built himself quite the little slavery empire. People report to him, bringing him slaves, and he manages the whole situation very well, under the command of no one other than the Sanguine.

Strengths: All of Damien's special abilities, apart from all the normal vampire strengths (Fast healing, immunity to illness, mesmerizing voice and eyes, ect) are mental rather than physical in nature. He can read minds, manipulate memories, and even occasionally take control of another's body, just with the power of his mind. As well as this, he is physically strong and a capable leader.

Weaknesses: As a vampire, Damien is vulernable to fire, to the sun, and he could be killed if he were decapitated of through heart trama. Besides that, he is far too angry a person for his own good, and can be easily manipulated through that anger, if one is very, very foolish or brave.

Abilities Due to Species: All the normal vampire stuff, as well as enhanced telepathic abilities (Telepathy, taking control of one's mind, memory manipulation)

Talents and Hobbies: Damien enjoys being active, and as such, he likes to hike, swim, run, anything that will keep him physically busy. He likes playing games, too, such as chess, and is fairly good at them, just due to long practice and to having a fairly strategic mind from his time as a warchief. His main hobby, however, is training slaves to his way of doing things.

Family and Friends: Damien, while alive, was never married and had no children (at least none that he knows about, though he wasn't exactly careful about preventing them), so he has very little in the way of family. His father is dead, and he had a brother who was also turned at around the same time he was, but they have lost touch. He has not sired any vampires, and has no relationship with his own sire.

He has a decent working relationship with all three of the Sanguine, reporting directly to Lucian, but he wouldn't consider them friends any more than they would consider him so. He has any number of business associates, but he doesn't really have friends, that's not his style. He believes that there are those who rule and those who are ruled, and he has no time for relationships that have any degree of equality in them, such as friendship.

Hotel or Location of Character: Damien owns both the Venetian (Close to the slave market) and the MGM Grand (Near the the slave breeding facilities) hotels, and he has penthouse suites in both of them. Most often, he can be found at the Venetian, as it is closest to the slave market, which is where he spends the majority of his time.

Job/Duty/Position: Slavemaster. Damien controls the slave situation within Vegas, under the command only of the Sanguine, organizing the breeding of new slaves, the sale of slaves, and the capture of those humans who have remained free to this point.
